New cabinets can cost $15,000–$40,000 or more. Professional cabinet refinishing delivers a completely new look at 20–30% of the cost, with results that last 8–12 years.
Cabinet refinishing is a specialty trade that requires different techniques than wall painting. Every project follows the same detailed process: we remove all doors, drawers, and hardware; degrease and clean every surface; sand to create proper adhesion; apply bonding primer; and finish with multiple coats of cabinet-grade enamel. Doors and drawer fronts are sprayed off-site or in a controlled area for the smoothest possible finish.
We offer both painted and stained cabinet finishes. Painted cabinets — whites, grays, navies, and greens are the most popular choices — provide a clean, modern look. Stained finishes let the wood grain show through and work well in The Cliffs homes that lean into natural desert aesthetics. We can also do two-tone kitchens: one color on uppers, another on lowers.
Most wood, MDF, and thermofoil cabinets in good structural condition are excellent candidates for refinishing. If doors are warped, delaminating, or structurally damaged, replacement of those specific doors may be needed while the rest are refinished. We'll assess every cabinet during the estimate and let you know exactly what to expect.
St. George's dry climate is actually favorable for cabinet painting — low humidity means faster drying and less risk of finish defects. However, we still control the environment carefully: spraying happens in dust-free conditions, and we schedule topcoats during optimal temperature windows for the best chemical cure.
A typical kitchen cabinet refinishing project takes 5–8 working days. During most of this time, your kitchen remains functional — we remove doors and drawers but leave the cabinet boxes accessible. The final day involves reinstalling everything, adjusting hinges, and adding new hardware if desired.
